Olivia, her younger brother Tim, and their mother Ingrid are evicted from their home and forced to start over in a new neighborhood. While Ingrid struggles to juggle everything and resolve their situation, Olivia creates a protective fantasy for herself and her brother: everything they are experiencing is not real—they are actually filming a movie. But this invention will have unexpected consequences.

Fortunately, around them a new and colorful chosen family begins to form, and together they experience wild, unpredictable adventures. Through laughter, tears, magic, and friendship, they discover that they are the incredible everyday heroes of their own lives.
